Area of Practice & Background

Connette has joined Sutherland Law as an articling student after graduating from Western Law in 2019. She is excited to start her legal career learning from and working with the bright legal minds at Sutherland Law, particularly in the areas of Family, Construction Lien and Civil Litigation Law.

Her interest in advocacy was sparked during her time working in the commercial real estate development industry where she acquired an appreciation for the intricate nature of land use and development law. Prior to attending law school, Connette completed an Honours Bachelor of Science with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Psychology at the University of Ottawa and an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Economics at York University. She gained practical experience summering under the supervision of in-house counsel for a residential real estate developer, which allowed her to become familiar with the construction process. Connette’s diverse academic and professional background allows her to consider legal problems from alternative perspectives to help clients find creative and meaningful solutions as they navigate the legal system.

In her spare time Connette runs, sails and reads. Originally from Pretoria, South Africa, she is fluent in Afrikaans. Connette enjoys adventurous travel, which has included swimming with sharks and African lion safaris.
